I've fully come to terms with the fact that I've developed a sickening pinterest addiction. In light of this fact, I thought it would be nice to share an image once in awhile that I found captivating. I chose today's, which I originally found in Architectural Digest, to start. It is a dining room by Mario Buatta. I love it because the cozy, tented dining room is offset from a cavernous living room - such a play in dimensions. Tell me what you think!

I looked at the original article, and the bedroom has an even more abrupt change of scale; not only is the ceiling lower, but the headboard practically meets it. The result seems almost claustrophobic to me. I feel like I need to duck my head.

I love it but I'm biased as I love cozy little spaces. I can see what Parnassus is saying but it clearly is over 6' high... by comparison it does feel very low but thats by design. Personal preference and probably also a little to do with past experiences with your own personal height (i'm short!)

Haha, I see what you guys are saying. I think it definitely feels that way with all the fabric around. It certainly contributes to that feeling with all the texture around you. And I think it would make you feel even more so just because it is such a contrast from the other room. But you know, in general I prefer high ceilings altogether. Although, if you are stuck in a short-term rental, something to keep in mind would be to tent it like this dining room to make it slightly less austere!
