Serene in South Carolina

Monday, January 12, 2015

We have often visited Charleston to see friends. It is one of my favorite Southern cities. Well, probably just my favorite.

I saw this house gallery a couple weeks ago but thought of it again today while I was getting a massage. On a side note, I'll really miss the spa/onsen experience here in Japan. It is so part of Japanese culture which makes it is very affordable, clean and relaxing but to me, it still feels like a luxury. As I was looking up, I noticed of all the walls were this serene blue-green, much like this house's palette. What is it about that color that just relaxes a person?

Sorg Mansion

Another Ohio gem, the Sorg Mansion sold in 2013 for a mere $225k but it really has some remarkable woodwork and stonework.

I'm partial to this style, maybe it is a Cinderella-castle-thing. But right now this is the only castle in my life, see the resemblance? Just kidding. :)

house hunting?

Tuesday, January 6, 2015

Anyone house hunting in the New Year? Happy 2015, by the way! My husband, who has a knack for coming up with some elaborate ideas, found this Ohio Richardsonian Romanesque looking for a new home.

That's right, the house is ready to move to the lot of your choice. It has some really lovely details inside. The video tour, below, really captures the woodwork and stained glass.

There aren't many great photos but here are a few.
