Unpainted Inspiration - A Farm in Tuscany

Tuesday, February 3, 2015

After a long holiday in snowy Niseko, I've got pure whites on the brain! I saw this Tuscan farm, Villa Stabbia, of Danish born Tine Pedersen recently from The Horse Rider's Journal.

The couple, Tine and her husband Mario, turned their family home (documented to at least the 17th century) into a thriving equestrian business. What a great work-life balance.

Have you seen Victoria Hagan's NYC apartment? It maintains her clean aesthetic with a little city modernity. But above all the color palette is glittering yet peaceful - a respite from the bustling streets.

We found out we're moving back to NY in several months. I'm excited to be heading home, for life is certainly easier with the familiar. There have been many challenges that are indescribable about being an expat, but moreover relating to our specific situation here. Yet, this was where our daughter was born and spent the first precious years. I will miss this time in Japan very much with bittersweet memories. I think that's life though, you have to keep the good and forget the bad. As we enjoy these last few months in here, we just had our first snowfall. This crisp apartment just reminds me of the fresh start of this winter season.

Do you follow Veranda on Facebook? I have been following them for a couple months now and it has lead to at least 100 pins. Today I saw this feature of Mimi Williams' Atlanta high-rise apartment. I absolutely love how she completely embraced the white and light. So peaceful.

Had a bit of a moment over the work of Thomas Jayne with a blogging friend. I thought we should share the photo that sparked it with the rest of the internet.

And more,

Still have more travel photos to upload but in the meantime, I've been admiring this tranquil bedroom from designer Louise Brooks’ house as seen in Traditional Home.

It gets dark quite early now, so I'm enjoying cozying up and catching up on movies and books. A bit of quiet before our baby arrives. Also, I'm new to the "Tudors" which is pretty entertaining. I totally disliked it at first but now I can't stop watching the series on Netflix.

Today I'm loving the layered whites of this room by Whitney Fairchild. The warm wood tones and gilt juxtaposed against those gorgeous silver lamps - it brings it all together.

With the move I haven't looked at white rooms in a long time, other than the ones we've begun to occupy. I love this hall by Allison Hennessy from Traditional Home. While the interior architecture is lovely, what makes it for me are the furnishings and accessories.

Just because you rent doesn't mean you can't have a tidy and pretty laundry room. Or in our case tiny tiny room/walk in closet.

The verdant bedroom by Phoebe just says "spring" to me. Makes me miss the lovely team at Mrs. Howard just a tad, too.

Well I'm back. And before I can sort through my photos, how about some unpainted inspiration? Sometimes white on the walls is just right. I love this bedroom by Anthony Ferrie, it is at home in the city or country.
