unpainted inspiration

Wednesday, December 5, 2012

Still have more travel photos to upload but in the meantime, I've been admiring this tranquil bedroom from designer Louise Brooks’ house as seen in Traditional Home.

It gets dark quite early now, so I'm enjoying cozying up and catching up on movies and books. A bit of quiet before our baby arrives. Also, I'm new to the "Tudors" which is pretty entertaining. I totally disliked it at first but now I can't stop watching the series on Netflix.

dressing a daybed

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

As I'm making slow progress on unpacking, I'm left with a dilemma. I bought the daybed version of this bench. Originally it was for a guest room, now a nursery. So the question is, how to dress it?

I'm debating on if it is possible to dress it well without covering the back detailing. It seems so many daybeds are beautiful because of the plethora of cushions but I just love the shape of this bed. Daybeds are not an oft discussed design feature on blogs (I tried researching!) and I will say, more often than not inspiration is not to my liking. Either underdone or overdone. I do know I find the following rooms beautiful, is it the daybed?

A couple others I've posted before. I know I'm not planning bed hangings but these are lovely rooms.

So what are your thoughts? Advice? I'm having four Euro covers done soon and two 18 inch pillows. I'm not sure how to arrange them but I wanted them for comfort at the very least.

And can you believe this makes 250 posts?

This afternoon I am having lunch with a friend who is expecting twins. And today, I am loving this girls room for two by Alec Hemer from Country Living.

The verdant bedroom by Phoebe just says "spring" to me. Makes me miss the lovely team at Mrs. Howard just a tad, too.

Well I'm back. And before I can sort through my photos, how about some unpainted inspiration? Sometimes white on the walls is just right. I love this bedroom by Anthony Ferrie, it is at home in the city or country.

Whether you are celebrating the Passover Seder or Easter Sunday this weekend, nothing says "spring" and renewal like this lovely blue beauty by Vicente Wolf.

check please

Taking a break from St. Augustine today. I've been mad about buffalo check for some time now. I found these wonderfully inspiring as to what to do with my several yards of Pindler and Pindler oversize blue buffalo check.

Happy Valentine's Day. We don't really celebrate it in our house but nevertheless, this bedroom (via Jennings and Gates) looks like a sweet place to curl up on a cold winter's day.

Today is Phoebe Howard's book launch and signing. If you still need a gift for your loved ones this is the first day you can get your mitts on it. Don't worry, I'm buying mine just like everyone else.

high-low

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

I'm really liking this room by Phoebe Howard, incorporating the pale blues and quilts. I never was much for handmade quilts. I think they're beautiful and show remarkable skill, but they are often too busy for me. However, this simple design is really quite lovely.

Want to make a simple quilt your own? On sale at Macy's, thank you Martha.

Also, I loved this high-low from Boxwood Clippings. Sadly, the lamp was on clearance so good luck at your local store. However, they still have a similar style of lamp.
